Do you know how to get to Sesame Street?

I met this 8 foot 2 inch yellow bird that made a big impact.

Tell me which Sesame Street character(s) made positive impact(s) to your life.

Grover: I loved him so much when I was little. Now that I’m older I guess it was his sweet and silly personality that made me want to learn.

Snuffelupagus. So gentle, so sweet, so kind.

I loved Elmo. He was just so on my level at the time. Like he understood me. It made me feel like I wasn’t alone.

Long-suffering Kermit was always my favourite – I always liked it when he’d lose his cool with Grover. He showed me that, no matter how good and patient and kind you are, sometimes you will have to call people out when they’re being silly.

Snuffleupagous– I guess I just identified with feeling invisible. Sesame Street made such an impact on my life and development. One of my big wishes is to actually visit Sesame Street as a guest!

To many to list, but I really enjoyed Big Bird, Snuffy, Oscar and Grover.

Ernie: mischievous and clever. I feel like he was the kind of Muppet who, given a rule that is ridiculous or unjust, would find a way to make a mockery of the rule.

Big Bird & Snuffy combo: Best friends, loyal to the end — even though the “grown-ups” denied that Snuffy even existed!

Sesame Street taught me a lot of things, perhaps it’s most valuable lesson was that it was “cool” to learn things, that you can take pride in knowledge and self-empowerment.

Also Grover. Although when Kermit would make cameos for his News Flash, I’d dance a jig.

The Count: Wanting to count everything…including himself when he was all alone…..Completely loved him,…never fond of maths, but I sure can count!
